2006 Beetle, New and Improved!Volkswagen has updated, improved, and enhanced the Beetle for 2006. Dont think that it is still not a Beetle though. It still has the trademark Beetle exterior design, but the inside is impressive. Remember Biology in High school when you had to dissect all those things. Well, lets take a walk down memory lane and dissect the Volkswagen Beetle. First, examine the exterior. Color: Silver. Hard, rounded shell. No noticeable changes. One of the features that I especially liked on the new Beetle is the updated sun visors. The drivers sun visor goes down in the front and then on the side, where the grip is, is an additional visor. Also, there is a sunglasses holder and programmable buttons to open your garage, gate, or anything else requiring a remote. My daughter liked the reading lights in the back seat. Third, what makes it tick? The heart of the Beetle is a 2.5 liter, 150 horsepower, in-line 5 cylinder engine. This engine is a 6 speed automatic with Tiptronic transmission that easily provides quick starts, good handling, and good gas mileage. I spent most of my time driving around town and the Beetle was great. I used a full tank of gas in a week which confirms the listed mpg of 23 city and 32 highway. Now that we have dissected the Beetle, time to list conclusions. The 2006 New Beetle 2.5L is a great car. The exterior design of the Beetle still has sporty curves, great colors and recognizable shape. When you see one on the road, you immediately know what it is and who made it. When I was a child, we even searched for them on the road and gained points for each one spotted first. Every time I see one, it brings back good memories of family travels and time together.
