BMW Z4 Coupe – Attention, Enjoyment, and Desire
by Charity Boozier
When
this car was delivered to my door, I just stood there transfixed in
fascination for a few minutes taking in all the delights of the Z4
coupe. From the smooth
lines and great styling to the awesome engine and power, I
determined that this was going to be a great week!
As I began to research the information,
specifications, pricing and other pertinent details about the Z4, I
harbored some concern about writing this review and would I be able
to give this car the justice due it for it is more than just a car
and deserves more than just a standard review.
While deliberating and studying, I learned a lot about the
Z4. I even found a
cable show detailing the manufacturing process and took notes to
supplement my other information.
This only increased my satisfaction and impression of the Z4
and its abilities, structure, and safety.
Let’s start on the outside and work our way in.
The Z4 immediately attracts attention, not only the
recognizable blue and white emblem, but the overall design that
overpowers the other cars on the road and projects speed, power, and
authority. Some other
features are not visible, but definitely indicative of the BMW brand
luxury. The windshield
wipers sense the rain and are equipped with heated jets to prevent
freezing and offer the opportunity to quickly and easily clear the
glass. With the heated
mirrors, you will be ready to leave in minimal time.
The turn indicators on the side of the vehicle are located
behind the logo, so every time that turn signal operates, observers
are again reminded of the quality and caliber of this car.
The braking light is adaptive, meaning that the harder you
press the brakes, the brighter the light illuminates: very safe for
you and the drivers behind you.
The large air intakes and front grill have the signature dual
kidney design.
The interior comfortably seats two passengers in
comfort, luxury and indulgence.
Beginning with the leather seats made by Lear Corporation to
the Harmon Kardon stereo, the Z4 will make any passenger content.
The 6-way adjustable seats are standard, but can be upgraded
to an 8-way power seat with driver’s seat memory, heating is
optional also. Leather
graces the seats, steering wheel, hand brake and shift knob and
aluminum accents further enhance the interior design.
Comforts in today[‘s technological world includes the ability
to attach and operate various devices.
The Z4 offers Bluetooth interface, iPod adapter kit,
auxiliary audio imputer, CD changer and satellite radio that can be
enjoyed over the premium sound system that is THX certified
including 2 subwoofers. Understanding
that music can now be heard clearly, no driver or passenger wants
road noise to interrupt that crisp sound.
BMW is aware of that desire and offer 3 different sound
barriers and customer options to provide the quietest ride.
Many of the features and items have been
aesthetic, but now we come to the heart of the Z4, or the engine.
A 3.0 liter high output 24-valve inline 6-cylinder engine
powers this automobile.
With the valvetronic system and other engine features the Z4
delivers speed, control and power.
The Dynamic Driving Control or sport button offers additional
control for the driver.
Of course the 6-speed standard transmission is tight and efficient
and easy to use. I had
the opportunity to take a small friend of mine to lunch one day and
weeks later, he is still asking his mom when he can ride in the
“cool car” again. The
Z4 attracts attention, delivers enjoyment, and intensifies desire.
Where the rubber meets the road is the price.
This is probably the most surprising aspect of the Z4 for me.
The base price for the coupe model is about $41,000.
After adding the sport package, premium package, updating the
seats and other options, the price rises to about $50,000.
Definitely a luxury car, but it delivers without question.
Female Factor:
Well, some people may say that fast, sexy cars are
marketed more toward men, but I would disagree, based on driving
this car. It is great
and I think that every woman should be driving one.
Hey, it makes us look good and we make it look good: a
mutually beneficial relationship.
What more could we ask for?
