Camaro: The Ultimate Cougar Car

by Madelyn Miller, the TravelLady

I have always liked men a little younger than me. Even my ex-husband was younger. Usually I like men about ten years or so younger than me.

After a week of driving the Transformer model of the Camaro, I discovered this car appealed to MUCH younger men. Like ten years old.

The first male who lost his heart to the bright yellow Camaro wasn't even ten years old. The son of my chiropractor  wanted to comb his hair (much to his parents' pleasure) and show me his bumble bee hat.  I had no idea what he was talking about. But I learned at a young age to listen to what a male was saying and then figure it out later. **

I confess, I never saw the movie Transformers. After  few days, I was not surprised when young men started saying bumblebee when they saw me in the Camaro.

The counter boy at Jason's Deli  was really excited to see me drive up. He was the first man who might have been old enough to vote who commented on the car.

At a favorite store, two young gentlemen were admiring the Camaro when I came out. In less than ten minutes, it had attracted a crowd.

When I took some items to a charity, the worker came out to the Camaro to carry my donation in. He said he was eager to see what someone who drove a Camaro would give away.

Then my daily UPS delivery man saw me park it in front of my loft. He rushed over and said that was his son's favorite car. I politely asked how old his son was (wondering if he was old enough to drive.) He said 23. That was still too young for my cougar mood, but a move forward toward adult males.

A courtesy officer at my loft building asked if he could just sit in it. Since he was dressed in bumblebee colors (actually his uniform) I decided to say yes.

 The ones that got away

Driving back to my loft one day, I saw at group of tall young men with jackets that said, "Russia" on them. One of them took out his camera and snapped a picture of the Camaro. If I had not been driving, I would have grabbed my camera and taken a picture of him taking a picture of the Camaro.

Besides attracting young men,
the Camaro had numerous other advantages:

It was easy to spot the Camaro in a parking lot.

I felt it was like driving a giant caution sign because it was a long, long yellow streak of color on the road. People did seem to be more careful when driving around me.

The Camaro seemed to bring out the inner gentlemen in guys. They wanted to help me unload the car, carry my packages and more.

Love is not rational

Ask me what is important in a car, and I will save a good place for a purse and a large trunk.  The Camaro really didn't excel at either of these needs. And it was awkward to reach back and put on the safety belt. I thought maybe I was having a problem because I am short. But a guy friend drove it one day and agreed that it was a stretch to reach back for it.

But it was love at first site when the Camaro was delivered to me. I hated to give it up. And the next car I drove had all the important features I look for in a car. But it wasn't a Camaro.

What Next

**I decided I need to see the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, starring the All-New 2010 Camaro as well as some other exciting vehicles from Chevy. If you want to talk to younger men, you need to understand their language.
