2007 Chevy Tahoe—This is why I love an SUV!
by Becky J. Beall
I
know I should be ashamed of myself for loving SUV’s with gas between
$2 and $3 a gallon, but I can’t help it. They are my favorite
vehicles! Sports cars are always fun to take for a spin but when I’m
headed out with my family, I love the roominess and safety that I
feel when driving an SUV.
Meet
my latest love affair…Chevy’s full-size SUV—the 2007 Tahoe. Since
2001, the Tahoe has topped the list for best-selling full-size SUV
and this model makes no apologizes for supreme status with a
redesigned look. The ’07 Tahoe offers improved aerodynamics which
largely contributes to the overall smooth exterior of the vehicle.
The windshield is more steeply raked and the grille is distinctive
to the Tahoe…all in all, I like the new, improved appearance of the
Tahoe.
As a mom, I appreciate that Chevrolet designed the
Tahoe to be among the safest, most secure vehicles in the industry.
There are some new features with this model that enhance the safety
of the Tahoe even more: roof-mounted head curtain side air bags with
rollover protection for all seating rows and front-seat safety belt
pretensioners that are linked to the vehicle’s sensing system to
provide segment-exclusive deployment in rear-end crashes. Other
standard safety features that I have come to expect in a good SUV,
which the Tahoe most certainly is, are things like anti-lock brakes,
tire pressure monitoring and daytime running lamps.
The
Tahoe is powered by a 5.3L Vortec V8 engine with active fuel
management. It delivers a comfortable ride with secure road
handling, and surprisingly, it is also a quiet ride. With third row
seating, six or seven can fit comfortably in this model Tahoe, a
plus for my big family!
As far as rear storage space—it’s limited if you
are utilizing all seating for passengers, but then again, there is a
roof rack. I can fit normal stuff in the back, but for a trip with a
full load of passengers, you’ll definitely need to rely on the roof
rack.
Okay,
here’s my “female factor”…you know…the things I love that the
average male might not consider important. I really like the rear
parking assist—it alerts me when things are obstructing my path.
I also like the large console with deep storage space and the
abundance of cup holders. But most of all, I think anyone who has
driven this vehicle would agree, it handles like a dream.
