Be There or Be Square

The Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance, at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, is all about car and motorcycle fanatics enjoying cars and motorcycles from a wide range of time periods. It’s also a way to give back to the community, because it benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.

This year’s event kicks off on Friday, February 20, with the DuPont Registry Live! welcome reception at the Boca Raton Airport Hangar. On Saturday, February 21, golfers can enjoy the Celebrity Golf Tournament at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Saturday evening features a black-tie optional gala dinner with a live performance by comedian Howie Mandel. The weekend’s grand finale will be the automobile and motorcycle exposition on Sunday, February 22, 2009.

There will be no need to eat or shop before you go, either. A series of vendor tents will feature such items as food, commemorative Concours booklets, clothing and pins from previous years, and luxurious jewelry pieces. New for this year will be the Automotive Art Show, showcasing eclectic artists’ works that center on automobiles and motorcycles.

Special-guest speakers, Tom DuPont of DuPont Registry and Keith Martin of Sports Car Market will be the event hosts, providing continuous updates during the Concours. You can also mingle with celebrities, world-renowned race car drivers and legendary athletes while they preview the vintage, antique, classic and exotic automobiles. And, a panel of expert judges will select the finest cars from the display.

If last year’s event is a predictor, you will have the opportunity to see cars and motorcycles that you may never have heard of before. The 2008 event featured a 1939 Horch 853a, a 1932 Chrysler Imperial, a 1947 Morgan F Super 3 Wheeler, a 1929 Dusenberg, a 1963 Norton Electra motorcycle and a 1955 Vincent Prince motorcycle, among others.
