Madelyn Miller

Writer and Publisher

Since her very first time behind the wheel, Madelyn Miller has had a love-hate relationship with cars. You might think that she loves them and they hate her.

She signed up for driver’s ed in high school and has the unique distinction of being the first person in her high school to have an accident in a driver’s ed car. While following a course in the parking lot, her instructor told her to turn right. She did. And went right into a tree. The instructor was actually testing her reflexes, but Miller was so nervous, she just followed his directions. She feels he is at least half at fault since he told her to do it, and he had a brake that could have stopped them.

When first married, she worked on the Chrysler-Plymouth account in an advertising agency. Her first assignment was to write about souped up muscle cars. Madelyn convinced them she could write better at home and quickly enlisted her Detroit-native husband’s help. The agency and client loved everything he/she wrote. The only problem was one afternoon there was a rush assignment and she was at a loss for words.

Her next big auto experience was when her son Greg was born in the back seat of a Plymouth Duster. She always thought he would grow up to work in the auto industry.

After that, a preschool group asked her to speak on natural childbirth, assuming that if she could do it in a car, she could do it anywhere.

Her current car is a purple Ford Escort Wagon that friends affectionately refer to as Barney.
All of Madelyn’s good friends always offer to drive.
